Giveaway! Craftlab Recycled Scarf (Ends 2/28)

I’m a scarf girl, plain and simple. I think if you have on a jacket, tshirt and a scarf, you’ve got yourself an outfit. It’s the easiest way to pull a “look” out of nothing.

With that being said, we are so excited about this next giveaway! Jessika Mejia of Craftlab, a friend from Samford & Pure Barre client, has allowed us to giveaway one of her scarves here. ($30 retail value!) This is not just any old scarf though. It is recycled. I know you’re thinking, “GREAT, that’s just great, Heather, so you’re giving away someone else’s scarf.” No, no, no. I’ll let Jessika explain her inspirational company and the method behind one of the coolest and unique scarves I’ve seen in a while.

Craftlab—what the heck is it?

Craftlab takes old items and gives them a much-needed face-lift. All Craftlab products are one-of-a-kind, re-fashioned with magic and care from renewable and second-hand materials. Our wearable goods are creative, hip, inspiring, and priced humbly with your wallet in mind.

Who’s running this thing?

Jessika Mejia, a recent Samford Univeristy grad, is a graphic designer by day and recycled crafts enthusiasts by night. When she’s not designing a logo she is making recycled goods from old t-shirts, her grandmother’s buttons, unwanted letterpress paper and much, much more. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. That’s her motto. For more information you can check out her Facebook Page ‘Craftlab’ and see how she transforms trash to treasure and read up on her new endevour.

What’ve we got, you ask?

Craftlab’s treasures, all rescued from oblivion and carefully re-crafted, currently include: Lovely and cozy shredded scarves from discarded tees (for the little ones, too). Pendant lamps from unwanted letterpress paper and wire coat hangers. Earrings re-fashioned from grandma’s buttons and Mother of pearl discs, respectively. Assorted jewelry from balsa wood and paper. Broaches and hairpins from old manila folders. Necklaces from recycled newspapers, t-shirts, and chains.

Who says recycling should only be done with a plastic bin?

Recycling is more than separating trash and putting it on the corner every week. Jessika Mejia—Craftlab founder and CEO—says so. She isn’t your grandmother, though she probably has been crafting for nearly as long. Check out our photos to see what’s in stock. Please note that colors and styles may vary, depending on what rescued items are available at any given moment.
